Today I started analyzing and organizing my pictures, and I now understand that this is a bigger job then what I first expected. It sounds easy to organzie photos in to diferent sections depending on how they look- but when you have to do it over and over and over again with over 400 pictures the end seems further and further away.
I actually got quite stressed time wise, as Ive only got 3-4 weeks left, and each of my analyzes would need from 1-3 days each..
This is what Ive decided to categorize my photos by:
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
- DYNAMIC (Organic/ messy/ floating/ incl pictures etc)
- STATIC ( Strict/ system/ not dynamic)
- SIZE ( Small/ medium/ big)
- MATERIAL (Wood, plastic, steel etc)
- SHAPE ( rectangle, circle, triangle )
- CHURCH PATHWAYS (pentacostal, catholic, batism etc)
DESIGN CHARACTERISTIC
- CENTRAL AXIS ( text centred)
- RANGED LEFT ( text ranged left)
- RANGED RIGHT (text ranged right)
- ALL OVER THE PLACE
- ALL LINES JUSTIFIED
- LOGOTYPE LIKE (including logos)
- PURELY TEXT (no logo)
LINGUISTIC CHARACTERISTICS
- WORD COUNT
- ABOUNT OF VERBS
- LENGTH OF CENTENCES
- HIERACHIES
- VERSES
- PURELY INFOBASED
The first thing I did was to place all the photos on 6 A1 sheets, and then I went to the printer and printed them out before hanging them on the wall. Its almost like I got an entire new look at te project when I got them all up side by side like this. It almost stands as a piece by its own like that... With some editing etc ofcourse, but there is definetly something faciniting about looking at tem like this.
